Trucks for Suriname rice company found with contraband

(De Ware Tijd) PARAMARIBO — Yesterday, police acted on a tip that distribution trucks of Manglie’s Rice Factories were carrying drugs. They awaited the trucks in Saramacca and a great shipment of medicine, mercury and cigarettes were found but no drugs. Police suspect it regards contraband. The drivers and co-drivers have been taken into custody. The trucks were from Nickerie. The Fraud department of the Surinamese Police Force (KPS) is further investigating the matter. Manager Imro Manglie has stated that the contraband is not his and that the trucks are not either. The truck owners are hired for distribution and his company’s emblem is placed on the trucks.
