An Enterprise Primary School student went missing on Wednesday and his relatives fear that he might have been the victim of a kidnapping.
Stephan Walcott, age ten years of Sophia, left his home on a bicycle in the company of another friend while his father was out and only the friend returned to Sophia that afternoon. A missing report was then filed at the Turkeyen police station.
But the friend later told the child’s father, Donald Walcott that two men snatched him while they were riding in the Tucville area. The friend was traumatized by the incident and has since refused to say anything more on the advice on his parents.
Donald Walcott, an ex-cop, told Stabroek News this morning that he has searched the Tucville area and the entire North/South Ruimveldt community looking for his son. He said a search party was later formed and after numerous searches they have been unable to locate the boy. The family can be contacted on 692-9073 or 219-2811 if anyone has information.
Walcott said he has no problems with anyone and troubled as to why someone would snatch his son. He has also ruled out money saying his family struggles to cover monthly expenses.
“The police treating this case like is a missing person but I have a report my son was snatched. Someone took my boy against his will and I will not give up the search for him…not when human trafficking and child molestation is a growing problem here”, an emotional Walcott said this morning.
The police have launched an investigation into the case but according to Walcott, nothing much has been happening on the ground. He said that most of the ground work has been done by him and his family.
