Antigua immigration officer for fraud charge over transaction with Guyanese

An Antiguan immigration officer is to appear in court charged with fraud following a transaction with a Guyanese.

According to the Antigua Observer newspaper, Herberts, Antigua resident Kaydee Gardner is charged with obtaining EC$2,225 from a Guyanese national under false pretence.

The offence reportedly occurred between November 4, 2009 and November 30, 2010.

Gardner was one of two immigration officers detained by police last Thursday.

The Observer said that National Security Minister, Dr Errol Cort has again issued a firm warning to the department.

He declared that the workers will be held to the highest level of professionalism and integrity, and should anyone fail to meet those standards, the individual will face the appropriate disciplinary action.
