Police find goods believed stolen from Linden store before fire

Linden police today found a large quantity of items which are believed to have been stolen from a garment business before fire destroyed it on Sunday.

Linden police, acting on a tip, raided an apartment and found a variety of items which they believe were taken from the Republic Avenue premises of the building which had also housed a Digicel store.

A person connected to the Wismar Street apartment is presently being questioned. The person is claiming that the items were his property. The owners of the business are expected to ascertain if the items were theirs.

If the items are from the store it may offer a motive for the fire as there has been no indication so far as to what might have caused the huge blaze which demolished the building and damaged the Regional Democratic Council office.

The fire started around 1 pm on Sunday.
