Caretaker of Linden store that burnt charged with larceny

Wesley Lancaster who is accused of stealing a quantity of items from the Chinese Garment Store which was gutted by fire at Linden on Sunday was today remanded to prison when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Lancaster is that on May 7 at Republic Avenue Linden, he stole a quantity of clothing and haberdasheries valued $707,100 from the store belonging to Zehy Liang. The fire occurred on May 8.

Lancaster, 24, of 131 Wisroc Housing Scheme was not required to plead to the charge of simple larceny when it was read to him by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

The matter was transferred to the Christianburg Magistrates’ Court for May 17.
