The new landfill located at Haags Bosch behind Eccles Industrial Estate on the East Bank of Demerara will be opened on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 bringing an end to the dumping of garbage at Le Repentir.
The Ministry of Local Government in a statement issued yesterday advises that all vehicles transporting garbage to this new site should do so in a manner which avoids littering the streets along the route to the site.
Access to the site is through the road which is at the boundary between Eccles and Bagotstown, EBD. No tipping fees will be charged until further notice the release said, and private contractors and business places are advised to make arrangements for taking all garbage to the new site.
