At about 0340h today an armed robbery occurred at Latchman Singh Street, Mon Repos, ECD, during which overseas-based Guyanese Loreta Mapura, 55 years, and her husband Kadar Mapura, 56 years, were attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Police say that investigations revealed that the victims had just arrived at the residence from the CJIA, and were taking their suitcases into their home when they were confronted and held up by the perpetrators who took away their gold jewellery and US$6,500 after which they escaped.
