Bartica man remanded over ganja trafficking

A Bartica man accused of having a quantity of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking was yesterday remanded to prison after appearing before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Alvin Kennedy is that on May 14 at Three Miles Potaro Road, Bartica, he had in his possession 62 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

The defendant denied the charge when it was read to him.

No details of what transpired on the day in question were presented to the court.

The prosecution made a successful application for the accused to be remanded to prison and his matter to be transferred to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court tomorrow for report and fixture for trial.
