Local Government ministry appoints regional health coordinator

The Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development has appointed a new health coordinator to boost the delivery of its services in all the administrative regions.

Davin Washington was given the appointment, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said. The new coordinator is tasked with strengthening operations between the health and local government ministries. A similar appointment was also made in the education ministry.

Minister within the Ministry of Health Dr Bheri Ramsaran said the appointment was made to rectify some inadequacies found in coordinating initiatives from the central ministry to the regions. He also said the coordinator will help to ensure that persons within the various regions, particularly the outlying communities can access information about medical training opportunities in areas such as nurse assistant, pharmacy assistant, x-ray technician and medical laboratory technician.
