St. Stanislaus ‘Mash’ b/ball competitionbounces off today

The St. Stanislaus College Mash basketball competition gets underway today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The tournament, which was launched Friday in the Marian Forum, is being sponsored by United Insurance Company Ltd and will see 12 schools vying for honours.

President of the organizing committee, Ronald Jordan, said that the tournament was being promoted to give basketball players a chance to display their skills since there have not been enough tournaments recently.

Representative of United Insurance Company, Vibert Austin, said that his company was pleased to be associated with the venture.

“We at United Insurance Company are very grateful to pledge our continued support and hope that the team will compete in the spirit of love.”

The 12 teams will be divided into four groups. Group A consists of Charlestown Secondary, Marian Academy and Brickdam Secondary School. Group B – Plaisance Secondary School, School of the Nations and St. Rose’s High School.

Group C comprises Bishops’ High School, Guyana Education Trust College and President’s College and   Group D consists of hosts St. Stanislaus College, Queen’s College and The Business School.

Trophies and individual prizes are at stake in the competition.

Each game day will feature a double header that gets underway from 3:30pm.
