Four die in Jamaica accident

(Jamaica Gleaner) This morning’s motor vehicle accident along the Old Harbour Road in St. Catherine, Jamaica claimed the lives of four people.

They are are Garieno Dixon, his two-year-old son, Nicholi Dixon, Dian Dixon, 26, and Marie Myrie-Smith.

The Dixons, who were visiting from Toronto, Canada, were guests of Myrie-Smith in Willodene, St. Catherine.

It was revealed today that the child became ill and was being rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital when the accident occurred.

“When the car reached a section of the road, the driver overtook a line of vehicles and collided with the International Truck,” said Sergeant Osbourne Fearon, investigating officer.

The police say the driver lost control of the car, and collided with the truck, which was heading in the opposite direction.

The St. Catherine North Traffic Department is investigating.
