Owen Arthur accused of playing politics with hotel project

(Barbados Nation) Avinash Persaud has sought to turn the tables on Opposition Leader Owen Arthur, accusing him of playing politics with the Four Seasons project, which he says is on the verge of getting needed finance for its resumption.

The executive chairman of Paradise Beach Limited told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that the company seeking to restart the stalled West Coast hotel resort project was now closing in on the last Bds$10 million required.

“We have received internal credit approval from the Inter-American Development (IDB) for Bds$180 million – with board approval shortly.

“In order for that Bds$180 million to be disbursed [by the IDB], we needed to raise Bds$80 million and, of that, we have already raised $70 million. We believe we are close to the final Bds$10 million but we hope to raise more than that,” the economist disclosed.
