Jamaican woman charged with murdering sister

(Jamaica Gleaner) A woman who was arrested in relation to the murder of her sister in Portmore, St. Catherine earlier this month is to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s court on Tuesday.

Suzan Smith was charged on Monday for murdering 35-year-old Stacey-Ann Smith whose remains were buried in a house now under construction.

The police were summoned to a house near the Portmore HEART Academy in Portsmouth on February 6 after suspicions mounted because of an odour coming from the house.

Smith who lived on Landport Way, Portsmouth in Portmore St Catherine was last seen alive five days before.

She had returned home from the Cayman Islands just days earlier.

Her sister, Suzan Smith, was taken into custody following the discovery of her body.

The police say other persons may have been involved.
