(Barbados Nation) Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin is considering going to Government to have legislation drafted to deal with the “massive problem” of noise pollution.
Speaking to the DAILY NATION yesterday after a service at the Ann Gill Memorial Methodist Church in commemoration of Police Week 2012, Dottin said: “We are facing an enormous problem [concerning] noise from karaokes, public fetes and from what people call birthday parties.
We have so many complaints from residents who are utterly fed up [but] we are trying to control it through the Highway Act and I have told my commanders they have to be very judicious about it.
“It is a massive problem and we’re going to use what legislative approaches we have to address the problem [although] I think it’s such a problem that perhaps we are going to be asking our ministry to look at the question of drafting additional legislation to deal with noise pollution.”
