Police say that at about 0100h today, Rishiram Singh, 32 years, of Fort Ordnance, East Canje, Berbice, was confronted by a group of six men in his yard. Two of them were armed with shotguns and the others with cutlasses.
Police say that Singh managed to run into his home and shut the glass door to the building, however the men discharged a round which shattered the door and Singh was hit by pellets to his right foot.
The men entered the home and held up Singh and his wife Aruna Hardat and took away a quantity of jewellery and $4,000.00 and escaped.
Singh was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital.
