Ex-detainee shot dead in T&T

(Trinidad Express) A man who two years ago survived being shot five times, was killed by a bullet to the head near his home in San Fernando on Monday night.

Dillon Massey, 20, was discovered dead near the Housing Development Corporation’s Mon Repos Apartment Complex located next door to the Mon Repos Police Station.

Residents said they heard explosions but thought they were firecrackers. Massey, also called ‘Jiggers’, was among dozens of people arrested during last year’s State of Emergency and questioned about his gang affiliation.

Family members declined to speak with the Express yesterday.

The killing of Massey, who was unemployed and lived at Smith Street, Mon Repos was described by a friend as a “ruthless act.”

He said Massey was at Building 4, when two men called him out. Massey went to the back of the building with the men.

Shortly after 9 pm, residents heard several loud explosions.

Twenty minutes later Massey’s body was found with bullet wounds to the head and body.

Acting Inspector Anthony Charles is investigating.

Police suspect his killing his linked to the shooting death, on New Year’s Eve, of San Fernando mother of two Darcel Boodram.

Boodram’s body was discovered with a bullet to the head, along a track at the base of the San Fernando Hill.
