Boy found with smoking utensil sent to NOC

A 16-year-old boy of Orealla, Corentyne River was sentenced to one year at the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of a utensil used for smoking cocaine.

The boy appeared at the Springlands Court yesterday on a charge of being in possession of the utensil on February 14. Magistrate Krishndat Persaud ordered that he remain at the NOC until he attains the age of 17.  Sergeant Michael Grant, prosecuting, told the court that the police were conducting a search at a house at Crabwood Creek when they noticed the defendant acting in a suspicious manner.

Upon checking, they found him with an improvised pipe that was suspected to be used for the purpose of smoking cocaine. The teen stood quietly in court during the hearing.
