Timehri prisoner stabbed with fluorescent tube

A prisoner from the Timehri lockups was last night rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital  after being stabbed by another inmate with a fluorescent tube.

Prison officials told Stabroek News that the man, whose name was only given as Butters, of Linden Region 10, was involved in an argument with another inmate who became enraged and took to the ceiling where he loosened the light and stabbed the man to his abdomen.

He was being treated up to press time. Hospital officials say they were monitoring him since he had lost a great amount of blood.
Investigations are ongoing.
