CDC continuing Disaster Risk Management Training with Region 4 reps

The Civil Defence Commission is continuing its Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Training for Region Four representatives at a number of two-day exercises, which began on Tuesday and will end on September 26.

In a press release, the CDC said the representatives were trained in Shelters and Shelter Management, and they are set to undergo exercises in Damage Assessment today and tomorrow and Emergency Operations Centre Manage-ment on September 25-26.

The training follows sessions done in Region Three during June and July and is being done in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme. It is a continuation of the CDC’s programme of education and capacity building.

Apart from personnel from regional and neighbourhood democratic councils, members are expected to include doctors, nurses, teachers and members of stakeholder organisations which operate within the regions.

Training will continue for the remainder of the year with sessions being done in the same subject areas in Region Six in October, regions Seven and Ten in November and Region One in December. On completion it till bring to eight the number of regions to have benefited from training in DRM.
