Six killed in West Kingston shooting

(Jamaica Gleaner) The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are reporting that six persons including a 13-year-old girl were killed in Denham Town in West Kingston yesterday afternoon during what they say was an intense gun-battle between themselves and gunmen.

In a statement yesterday, the Police High Command said two persons were also injured in the incident and are now in hospital in stable condition.

According to the police, the five males who were killed are wanted for various crimes committed in the Kingston Western and Kingston Central Divisions including murder and shooting.
The police say four weapons were seized after the gun battle.

However, Denham Town residents say the persons were killed in cold blood.
An alleged eyewitness told our news centre that she was sitting outside a house on Charles Street when two unmarked police vehicles showed up.

The woman claimed that several policemen alighted from the vehicles, kicked down the gate to the tenement and opened fire.
The mother of the 13-year-old girl told our news centre that her daughter was killed innocently.
The police say the incident has been reported to the Bureau of Special Investiga-tions and the Independent Commission of Investiga-tions.
