The police say they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 1845h yesterday at Land of Canaan Public Road, EBD, and which resulted in the death of Rafeek Mohamed, 53 years, of Friendship Squatting Area, EBD.
Investigations, police said, revealed that the driver of motor vehicle PKK 5609 was proceeding along the roadway, when the driver of motor car PMM 5690 is alleged to have attempted to overtake PKK 5609 which was turning at the time, resulting in a collision.
Rafeek Mohamed and his wife Jasmattie Sookra who were in PMM 5690 suffered injuries and were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where Rafeek Mohamed was pronounced DOA, while Jasmattie Sookra was treated and sent away.
Both drivers are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
