EPA was involved in resolving complaint about noise from generators, not music at Buddy’s Pool Hall

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) acknowledges receipt of your correspondence dated July 4, 2012, with regard to obtaining comments on issues raised in a letter which you received for publication.  Please be informed that the agency has been actively involved in resolving the complaint matter with regards to noise nuisance emanating from the generators at the Buddy’s Pool Hall facility (‘Issue of noise nuisance’ SN, July 27).  The agency has conducted investigations, and recommended measures which were issued to the proprietor, in an effort to mitigate noise nuisance emanating from the operation of generators.

Please be informed that the matter regarding the alleged noise emanating from music at this facility is the responsibility of the police, since a matter of this nature falls under their jurisdiction.  Additionally, it must be noted that the agency never made contact with the police regarding this matter, nor did the agency conclude that the alleged noise emanating from the played music by this facility was safe, as stated in the correspondence.

In this regard, the agency would like you to forward this matter to the respective authority to address same.
