The sod was turned today for the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri expansion project. In this GINA photo President Donald Ramotar (second from right) and Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Zhang Limin turn the sod for the project in the company of Minister of Public Works, Robeson Benn, China Harbour Engineering Company Zhang Dong Tang and other airport officials. The US$138M project has attracted criticism over the manner in which the deal was concluded and the wisdom of an expansion of that scale.
