Two drown in Konawaruk after boat pelted by owner

Police say that investigations are being conducted into the suspected drowning of Quacy Rover, 37 years, and Dwayne Thomas, 31 years, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, which occurred at about 1500h. yesterday at Takuba Lodge Landing, Konawaruk.

Investigations have revealed, police say that Rover, Thomas and another man were using a boat to cross the Konawaruk River, unknown to the owner.

The owner, police say, saw them in the process and is alleged to have begun throwing missiles at the men in the boat. Apparently, in trying to evade the missiles, Rover and Thomas fell into the river and are feared drowned as they have not been seen since.

The owner of the boat is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
