T&T man on bond for pelting Malinga

(Trinidad Express) A Curepe man was yesterday placed on $1,000 bond after he appeared in court charged with throwing missiles at Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga on Thursday, during the final of the Cel­kon Mobile Cup tri-na­tion series  at the Queens Park Oval, Port of Spain.

Vijay Outim, 40, of Watts Street, Curepe, appeared in the the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court before Ma­gistrate Lisa Mohammed to answer to a charge of throwing missiles.

Outim’s action caused play between Sri Lanka and India to halt for close to ten minutes.

India eventually won the game by one wicket, with a match-winning innings by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Outim was placed on the bond to keep the peace for one year and in default will serve two weeks in prison with hard labour.
