Catholic Standard without power for over 10 days

The Catholic Standard weekly newspaper today said that its premises on South Road and Wellington Sts have been without power for over 10 days after an incident in which a truck pulled down electricity lines.

The building houses the office and the printery of the Catholic Standard and the office and the studios of Catholic Magazine.

“Innumerable calls to the Guyana Power and Light Emergency have all been to no avail”, the Standard said.  It added that yesterday some GPL technicians did replace the cables running to the building but said that it was the “meter crew” that had to reconnect the power supply.
