Fundraiser to support work of Help and Shelter

The Help and Shelter non-governmental organisation, in an effort to meet their financial shortfall,  is hosting their annual ‘Salute to Mothers’ fundraiser brunch on April 21, 2013 at Georgetown Club, Camp Street.

A release from the Help and Shelter said the brunch would be hosted from 10am to 2.30pm and entertainment will include an appearance by Dave Martin and Friends. Milady House of Beauty will be on site with ‘Skintastic’ and there will be an auction and a raffle as well.

Contributions of $5,000 per person are being solicited.  This would cover the buffet brunch, a Mimosa or fruit juice; and corsages and fans for mothers.

For children, the contribution would be $1,000 (payable at the gate) and would cover the brunch, face painting and the bouncy castle.

Tickets can be obtained from Help and Shelter, Homestretch Avenue, D’Urban Park (225-4731), Denise Dias (227-2814), Michelle Low (618-1000), Nicky Mendes (600-0832) and Cindy Rahaman (600-0300).

Help and Shelter is an 18-year-old NGO which provides a shelter for abused women and children and runs a Crisis Centre for anyone (whether male or female) who is a victim or is at risk of domestic violence to receive assistance, support and counselling.

Help and Shelter said that although funding is received from the government and a variety of sources, the needs are great and there is a growing annual financial gap that curtails their provision of services.

Concerned persons are encouraged to support the organisation’s event to contribute towards the efforts to reduce and prevent violence.
