New sanitary block for Kuru Kururu Primary courtesy of Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Demerara has completed construction of a sanitary block for the Kuru Kururu Primary School at a cost of $2.3M and it also includes a maintenance component.

A release from the Club said that the commissioning of the block will take place on April 20, 2013 at 8:30am.  The Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, students, parents, teachers, Rotarians and sponsors will be in attendance.

The school has over 140 pupils and the new block features child-friendly sanitary facilities with toilets specially sized for children. The project was built by the club as part of their mandate which includes water and sanitation. The club has been working with the Kuru Kururu community for over 15 years and has completed a number of projects.

Sponsors included Readymix Cement Ltd, Hand in Hand Insurance, Safeway Security, Republic Bank, Courts, Scotia Bank and fundraising from club members.
