A Brazilian miner was shot dead and another man wounded when they were attacked by gunmen around 8 this morning in the Barama area, some 100 km from Port Kaituma, North West District and a police team has since been dispatched to the area.
The victims have been identified as Jose Francisco De Sousa Lema and his father-in-law Julian Cummings. A relative told this newspaper via telephone that Cummings has since been admitted a patient of the Port Kaituma Hospital.
Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told Stabroek News that a report has been made and a team has been dispatched. He said that the team has not returned and there is no other information available.
