The driver of the mangled car was said to be speeding when he collided with the other vehicle. He said it overtook several other cars.  The driver also said that when he reached La Grange he saw the same car in the trench.

Driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident, Ramdat Goocharran who escaped unhurt, told Stabroek News that he was heading home to Sisters Village when tragedy struck. He recalled that he had stopped at a cross street to allow a vehicle that was coming out of the street to pass. As he did so, Goocharran said, he heard a “crashing sound” and saw the car, which was heading in the same direction as him, on his windscreen.

He added that the car overturned about six times before finally landing in the trench on the other side of the road. The driver’s side of Goocharran’s vehicle was wrecked and it was being towed away to the police station when this newspaper arrived at the scene. Police officers were also seen attempting to take the damaged vehicle out of the trench.
