Some time ago I had commented on the condition of the street lights along the East Coast Highway and had observed that some attempt was made to restore a few. This situation has now gotten out of hand with the section from Liliendaal to Turkeyen being totally blacked out.
When we think about the recent upsurge in crime coupled with the usually unattended roaming cattle in this area at night, one cannot understand why there seems to be a lack of urgency in rectifying these issues.
Editor, in the interest of security and safety for our citizens, it is imperative that we have a continuous maintenance programme for our road markings and street lighting.
