Two men held after Zeelugt robberies

At about 2100h. last night, police say that four men, one of whom was armed with a hand gun, entered the home of Chandrawattie, 44  years, of Zeelugt Housing Scheme, EBE, and held her up.

The perpetrators ransacked the home and took away a laptop computer, a quantity of gold jewellery and $500,000 and fled.

Police say it is suspected that the same men then went to the home of Patricia Jeffrey, 33 years, of Zeelugt North Housing Scheme, EBE, and held her up along with her daughter.

The perpetrators ransacked the home and took away another laptop computer, a quantity of gold jewellery and $50,000 and escaped.

The police responded promptly to the reports and later intercepted two men at the Uitvlugt Bus Shed, WCD. An unlicensed .38 revolver with 6 matching rounds and one of the stolen computers were found in their possession.

They have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations, police said.
