Kwakwani men in court over threats, wounding

Orin Samuels and Godfrey Edwards were both admitted to $40,000 bail on a wounding charge when they appeared in a city court yesterday.

The men were jointly charged after they were accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Clive Hamilton on December 21 at Kwakwani.

They both pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to them by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Hamilton, 50, of Kwakwani was also charged with making use of threatening language and threatening behaviour towards Edwards and Samuels. He pleaded not guilty.

No other facts were related to the court.

Prosecutor Michael Grant had no objections to bail. Samuels and Edwards were subsequently placed on $40,000 bail each, while Hamilton was placed on self-bail.

Their matter was transferred to the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court for January 16, 2015.
