Treacle trampled its opposition and galloped away with the spoils of the feature C and Lower, seven furlong event of the Rising Sun Turf Club (RSTC) meet on Sunday.
With jockey, Randolph Richmond in the stirrups, Treacle of the Dookhie Stables toyed with its nine rivals before pulling away on the final turn.
The $1M first prize and the Banks DIH Trophy was subsequently awarded to the steed’s handlers.
In the feature event, the cavalry left the gate at an even break and as they approached the first turn, the lead interchanged in rapid succession.
However, it was Treacle that had the final say as it pulled away from the pack as they approached the final turn.
Coming into the homestretch, Richmond decided to let Triacle take control by giving it full rein and the champion race horse crossed the finish line about three lengths ahead of Country Armagh with Swing Easy and California Strike rounding out the top four.
The Dookhie’s Stable was in winners’ row again, with Easy to Win taking pole position in the I Class race ahead of Marian.
The Jumbo Jet Stables however took the top honours with three wins and other top placing in the seven-event meet.
The Stable won the Four-year-old race for West Indies Maiden and Guyana bred horses as well as the F Class and G3 and Lower races. The winning horses for the three respective races were Princess Alicia, Appealing Harvest and Rosetta.
Unsettled and De Gump sped off with the top honors in the Three-year-old race for West Indies and Guyana bred horses and the J and Lower race respectively. Colin Ross won the champion jokey award.
