Visa-free travel for Guyanese to Russia

Foreign Affairs Minister, Carl Greenidge and his counterpart of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, today signed an agreement, on behalf of their countries, which will facilitate visa free travel for citizens, between the two States, a release from the Ministry of the Presidency said. The signing took place on the sidelines of the United Nations 70th General Assembly, United Nations Headquarters.

Greenidge said it is a process that is aimed at encouraging movement between the two countries. The release said that the agreement will now afford citizens from these two countries the opportunity to travel between the two countries without a visa and stay for a maximum of six months. This new development will also see a major boost for the local tourism and business industries, the Minister was reported as saying.
