Guyanese woman held with cocaine at Ogle

A Guyanese woman who was heading to Barbados yesterday was nabbed at the Ogle Airport with cocaine in her luggage, head of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) James Singh has confirmed.

Singh told Stabroek News that just over one kilogramme of cocaine was found in the false walls of the woman’s suitcase.

She is in custody assisting with investigations.

Within the last few months several drug mules were intercepted at the airport before they were able to depart Guyana.

Last week Jamaican Richard Daniels was charged with cocaine trafficking after he was allegedly caught with 1.626 kilos of cocaine in two lotion bottles and socks. At the time he was an outgoing passenger at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport booked on a Fly Jamaica flight which was destined for Canada. He denied the allegation and is on remand.
