Enterprise, St Angela’s Primary to contest Pee Wee final

It will be a matchup of first time finalists for the fourth annual Courts Pee-Wee Under-11 football championship as Enterprise and St. Angela’s Primary recorded hard-fought semi-finals Saturday at the Thirst Park Ground.

In the battle of the giants, St. Angela’s Primary downed West Ruimveldt a 1-0 in a bruising affair. Keyon Douglas separated the two sides as he found the back of the net in the 38th minute.

Receiving the ball in the middle of the field, Douglas recorded an event leading 14th goal as his powerful right footed effort, took a slight deflection off the head of the centrehalf, wrong-footing the goalkeeper and settling into the left hand corner.

On the other hand, Enterprise downed former holders St. Pius 3-1 on penalty kicks after normal and extra time finished scoreless. The first round of the penalty shoot-out failed to separate the two sides as they both missed from the distance.

Enterprise then seized the lead in the second round as they scored from the spot while St. Pius missed from the mark. The score then became 2-1 in the third round as both teams scored from the distance.

Needing only a conversion to seal the win at the start of the fourth and final round, the Durban Backlands based unit made no mistake from the distance as they scored.

With their respective win, the two schools will now lock horns in the grand finale tomorrow at the same venue.
