Guyana still perceived as corrupt in Transparency rankings

In the 2015 Transparency International rankings released today, Guyana is still perceived as a very corrupt nation, its score of 29 hovering around the same position as in the 2014 report.

Countries are ranked on a scale of 1 to 100 by the Germany-based watchdog group with the high score signifying little or no corruption.

Guyana has ranked poorly since the inception of the perceptions index. Its ranking this year is 119 out of 168.  Its scores over the last four years are: 29, 30, 27, 28.

This year, Cuba scored 56, Jamaica 69, Trinidad 72, Suriname 88, Haiti 158 and Venezuela 158.
