Defending champs Chase Academy to meet former winners Lodge Secondary in grand finale

Defending champs Chase Academy will oppose former winners Lodge Secondary in the grand finale of 4th Annual Milo Schools U20 Football Championships following semi-final wins yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground.

It was a vintage performance for the holders as they stormed their way into the final, dismissing South Ruimveldt 6-0 in the feature semi-final contest.

Keith Caines started the rout in the third minute to seal his fifth goal of the event, finishing past the onrushing ‘keeper into the lower left corner from the centre of the box, following a one-on-one situation.

Ryan Hackett doubled their lead in the 34th minute, unleashing a powerful left footed strike which cannoned into the crossbar and sneaked over the line.

The score line ballooned to 3-0 six minutes later as Kelsey Benjamin scored, slotting into the centre of the net after collecting a pass inside the middle of the area.

Josiah Charles further extended their advantage in the 45th minute, latching onto deflection at the top of the box before placing a first time attempt into the lower left corner.

With the contest effectively decided in the first period, the Parade Street unit added a further two goals in the form of Ralph Parris who scored a double in the 60th and 63rd minutes.

Meanwhile, Lodge Secondary sealed their berth to the final, edging tourney surprise package Queen’s College 1-0. Shamar Smith separated the two teams compliments of a 60th minute strike.

The teams will face-off Saturday at the same venue from 18:00hrs for the title while the losing semi-finalists will lock horns in the third place playoff from 16:00hrs.
