West Indies facing innings defeat

KINGSTON, Jamaica, , CMC –Play on the fourth day of the second Test between West Indies and India has been called off because of rain.

West Indies, batting a second time, were 48 for the loss of four wickets after only 15.5 overs were possible at Sabina Park.

West Indies trail by 256 runs with six wickets remaining and a day to spare.

The four frontline batsmen have all fallen in the 15.5 overs which were possible after rain delayed the start of the morning session.

Opener Rajendra Chandrika was dismissed cheaply in the third over of the morning while fellow opener Kraigg Brathwaite  scored 23 before he was caught  from a feeble top edge.

Mohammed Shami has picked up two wickets for 25 runs, bowling Marlon Samuels without scoring and  Darren Bravo for 20.

Bravo batted poorly against the short balls from Shami and took his eyes off the delivery which caused his demise, edging a catch to Lokesh Rahul at third slip.

India, who resumed on 358 for five, declared their innings on 500 for nine before the rescheduled tea break on Monday, leaving the host facing a deficit of 304 runs.
