Samaroo, 26, appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh on a charge that he stole a Toyota 212 vehicle, which was the property of Lavern Grenada.

Samaroo, of Lot 20 Queen Street, Kitty, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Although Samaroo requested bail, it was objected to by prosecutor Adunni Innis, who cited the man’s record of stealing vehicles.

Bail was subsequently refused by the magistrate and Samaroo was remanded to prison until May 3.

Last year, Samaroo was charged with stealing a Honda CRV, a Samsung cellphone and $30,000, from Rhonda Joaquin. In the same year, he was also charged with stealing a Toyota Allion, which was the property of Eon Pearson.

Samaroo, who was previously committed to a mental institution, was released in February from the National Psychiatric Hospital in Berbice. In the following month, he was charged with stealing a car and $15,000 from Fareida Mohammed.
