PPP will continue to ‘engage’ Dharamlall over alleged shooting threat

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has promised to continue engaging its Member of Parliament (MP) Nigel Dharamlall over threats he allegedly made against a man who was communicating with his ex-wife.

At the party’s weekly press conference yesterday, General Secretary Clement Rohee said that Dharamlall has presented members with a report, outlining his version of what took place during the incident. He did not give details, but said that since the report from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) that no charges would be laid against the MP, they have not spoken to Dharamlall.

The MP had reportedly took out his firearm and threatened to shoot the individual, who is an employee of the Inter-American Development Bank office in Guyana.

The DPP Chambers later advised the police that no charge be laid after the parties involved settled the matter privately.
