About 11.45 last night, the police say that Lionel King, 26 years, of Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast, was walking along the Johanna Cecelia Public Road, Essequibo, when he was struck down by a motor car that was driven away from the scene.
King was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations led to the motor car being located at a residence at Good Hope, Essequibo Coast.
A man has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
