He who feels it, knows it

Dear Editor,

Reading about the workers of GTT striking was interesting.  They are surely doing more, but wait! That is not for the public interest. That’s for their interest.

Amongst them one might be responsible for answering the directory assistance’s number that you call when you need someone’s number and they are not answering. My aunt returned to Guyana and asked them to reconnect her phone because she had disconnected it before leaving.

Over two weeks of waiting just for them to punch the instruction through the computer but alas, that person might be picketing outside. I’ll have to ask her to wait some more.

You call to report your phone not working properly, screeching, grumblings etc., but weeks after they not investigating your complaints. Just look how fast they reach on the road to look after their interest.

Some of them outside might be responsible for handling one of the various complaints daily but are too lazy to follow through, but he/she finds it fitting to brave the sun for their cause.

The dailies are always being bombarded with complaints against GTT and many of them outside are directly responsible but, do they act? Wait a minute! Amongst the various demands I didn’t see any request for a lowering of the rates GTT is charging the public.

Like the great artiste sings ‘He who feels it, knows it’. Sure wish them

luck in getting their interest looked after, meanwhile the public will have to suffer a little longer for a better service from GTT especially from some of them.

Yours faithfully,

Sahadeo Bates
