Conquerors take the lead

Fruta Conquerors claimed the top spot in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Beer Elite League, crushing Berbice outfit Monedderlust 4-0 on Friday at the Tucville Community ground.

Leon Richardson started the rout in the 10th minute, latching onto a poor back pass by the defender before rounding the onrushing goalkeeper and finishing into the empty net.

Eon Alleyne doubled the lead in the 46th minute, stabbing home from inside the centre of the box, after collecting a headed Jermin Junior pass from the left side of the area.

The score ballooned once more in the 65th minute, as substitute Kwame LaFleur found the back of the net, placing his shot into the lower right corner, after an initial strike was parried into his path, inside the right of the box.

Junior then sealed the result in the 83rd minute, racing away from the backline through the center of the field, before slotting into the lower right corner past the advancing custodian.

With the result, the Tucville unit move onto seven points to clinch the top spot, one ahead of second placed Guyana Defence Force. For the loser, they remain in joint fourth position on three points.
