Sparta Boss edge Future Stars to reach Futsal semis

Sparta Boss will oppose Albouystown while Tucville will tackle Sophia in today’s semi-finals of the Xtreme Cleaners/GT Beer Gold Rush Futsal Championship at the National Gymnasium, following quarterfinal wins on Tuesday.

In front of a mammoth crowd, Sparta Boss overcame the emerging force of Future Stars 3-2.

Devon Millington provided the perfect start for Sparta Boss in the fourth minute, latching onto a lobbed pass from the left side, before finishing into left corner, from the right of the shooting arc.

However, Future Stars equalized two minutes later when Jeremy Garrett scored, placing a right foot shot into the lower left hand corner, after racing onto a pass from the centre of the field. Ralph Parris then spurned a great chance to hand Future Stars the lead in the 11th minute, firing his effort wide of the empty net, after an initial shot from Keron Solomon was parried into his path inside the area by the goalkeeper.

Future Stars lived to rue the aforesaid miss with Sheldon Shepherd adding is name to the scorer’s sheet in the 17th of the second half for Sparta Boss.

Racing onto a pass down the right side of the playing area from Millington during a two-on-one situation, the versatile Shepherd blasted his right foot effort into the right side of the net.

Future Stars refused to go down without a fight and subsequently levelled proceedings in the 26th minute via Keron Solomon who blasted down the centre of the net, after an earlier strike was deflected by the custodian into his path.

Sparta Boss duly clinched their place in the semi-finals through Eusi Phillips, who unleashed a flat first time strike from the centre of the field into the lower right corner.
