An 18-year-old male and a 23-year-old female of Number 51 Village, Corentyne were placed under arrest on Saturday evening after they were discovered with 11 kilograms of marijuana.
According to information gathered, Berbice Police on Saturday around 7 pm carried out a search at Lot 100, Number 51 Village, Corentyne, where they discovered two males carrying a bulky black plastic bag and a rice bag at the back of the heavily fenced yard.
Police upon noticing the men, who were acting in a suspicious manner, immediately gave chase which led to one of the men making good his escape, while the other was placed under arrest.
The police then searched the rice bag and found 10 parcels, while the plastic bag contained 12 parcels, all the parcels were neatly wrapped with transparent plastic.
The items were then weighed and amounted to 11 kilograms of marijuana.
The female, who is said to have been residing on the premises was also placed into custody.
