President returns from Cuba

President David Granger returned to Guyana last night after completing the second round of chemotherapy for Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, the Ministry of the Presidency said.

The President, who was accompanied by First Lady, Sandra Granger departed Guyana for Cuba on December 4, 2018.

The Guyana Embassy in Cuba yesterday said that the President completed the second round of medical treatment and evaluation at the Centro de lnvestigaciones Medico Quirurgicas {CIMEQ) in Havana.

The statement said that on Monday the Cuban Team of Specialists reiterated their complete satisfaction with the President’s response to medical treatment and said that they will continue to monitor the President’s progress in the coming weeks.

On Monday, also, the statement said that President Granger received a courtesy call from Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba.

The President took the opportunity again to express his gratitude to the Cuban Government and the Team of Medical Specialists for the treatment that he is being afforded in Havana. The statement said that he told Parrilla that he was very satisfied with the high level of care and attention that he is receiving at CIMEQ and praised the professionalism and expertise of his medical specialists.
