Popular Jamaican Comedian Elva Ruddock has died following brief illness

(JAMAICA OBSERVER) Comedienne and media personality Elva Ruddock died at the Kingston Public Hospital yesterday morning following what is being described as a brief illness.

Ruddock, who is best known for her larger than life personality, was a former columnist with the Jamaica Observer and its defunct evening publication Chat!.

Her other media exploits included host of Fame FM’s Full House Fridays and co-host of the popular infomercial for the Bashco stores with Omar Azan.

Minister pays tribute

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange says she shares the grief of the entire entertainment fraternity at the untimely passing of comedienne and media personality Elva Ruddock.

Grange, in a release this afternoon, said: “Elva was one of those persons who could easily bring sunshine on a rainy day in anyone’s life. Her bubbly personality was quite infectious. Elva was one of a kind and will always be remembered for her hilarious interactions on TV and radio. She commanded our attention with her presence and she will be greatly missed by all of us.”
