Trinidad: Chain snatcher arrested after beating, robbing pregnant woman

(Trinidad Express) A pregnant woman was beaten and robbed in Port of Spain on Tuesday.

The victim, who is seven months pregnant, was struck in the abdomen.

As she doubled over in pain the thief grabbed her gold chain off her neck.

The robbery occurred around 4 p.m. at Queen Street.

PCs Myers and WPC Cabby were heading west along the said street when they were flagged down by the victim.

She told police she was just robbed and pointed to the thief walking away.

The officers chased the assailant and arrested a suspect – a 22 year old man of Duncan Street, Port of Spain.

The chain was allegedly on him.

He was taken to the Port of Spain CID ad was expected to be charged with the offence of robbery with violence.
